ATHENS (Sputnik) — The Turkish military brought tanks to the streets and flew attack helicopters and fighter jets low over Turkish key cities last Friday in a failed takeover attempt. The eight service members flew a Black Hawk to Greek city of Alexandropoulis on the Turkish border where they claimed asylum. Ankara wants them extradited.
The men appeared in the Greek court on Monday. They are being tried for illegally crossing into the Greek territory. The judge agreed to give them three more days to prepare the case, according to the Athens news agency. They will remain in custody.
