Alexander Marchenko from Siberia has built a ship modeled on Captain Jack Sparrow’s Black Pearl from the film “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Marchenko, an entrepreneur from the village of Cheryomushki in Khakassia, started building his dream ship on the banks of the Yenisei River in 2010.

A complete lack of experience in shipbuilding did not put off Marchenko. He found the film’s design sketches on the Internet.

The Russian Black Pearl’s hull is made of pine and cedar.

The mast is 21 meters tall.

Marchenko has spent over 3.5 million rubles ($108,000) on the project so far.

The ship recreated by the entrepreneur does not sail, but simply floats moored next to the riverbank. Special pontoons keep the vessel afloat.

The pirate ship is being built by three people: Alexander himself, a carpenter and a carver.

The craftsmen are trying to reproduce the Black Pearl’s interiors as faithfully as possible.

But they do not intend to limit themselves to the comforts enjoyed by the pirates of the Caribbean, and are equipping the ship with modern lighting and heating systems.

In the future, the Black Pearl is likely to become a hotel for tourists coming to Khakassia.
